Welcome to Peru, Indiana!  I am extremely pleased to be able to acquaint you with our community through this website.  Located on the banks of the Wabash River, Peru has a great history and many historic sites such as the original circus winter quarters, Cole Porter's birthplace and gravesite.  The gravesite of Frances Slocum, Peru Depot, Wabash and Erie Canal Toll House and Seven Pillars.  Another significant point of interest is the Miami Indians.

Being the "Circus Capital of the World", we celebrate our heritage each July with our own world class youth circus and parade.  Our youth circus draws visitors from all across the U.S.A.  Our parade is considered the 2nd largest parade in Indiana.

If it is theatre you desire, we have Ole Olsen Memorial Theatre, Inc.  This community theatre organization has been performing for 40 years.  For relaxation, we have Mississenewa Reservoir for boating, camping, swimming and fishing.  We also have beautiful parks, four golf courses and our Peru Riverwalk.

When you get hungry, try our local restaurants.  From the standard fast food establishments to our locally owned restaurants, Peru offers something for every appetite.  Since there is more than you can see in one day, you can stay the night in our quality hotels or fine Bed & Breakfast Inns.

Please visit other links on our website to learn even more about our community.  When you do, I know you will want to come and visit us.  The door to our community is always open to you.
