2010 COMMUNITY CALENDAR (July 1st, 2010)

 

January 14th & 28th – Banish the Winter Blah’s at Salamonie Reservoir.  $2/participant, plus supply cost for crafts, pre-registration.  For more information, call 260-468-2127.

 

January 16th – Community Shredding Day Sponsored Peak Community Services.  Each Customer will receive the first 25 pounds of shredding for free!  Each additional pound will cost only 14 cents.  Services will be provided at 1416 Woodlawn Avenue, Logansport between 9 am and 11 am.

 

January 30th – Spaghetti Supper at Parkview United Methodist Church 1785 S. St. Rd. 19 just south of Peru on Hwy. 19 from 11 am to 3 pm.  The supper will have baked spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, dessert, and drink.  $7.00 Eat-in or Carry-out sponsored by the Peru-Grissom Kiwanis.

February 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st – “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” an Ole Olsen play at the Depot.  February 18th is Dinner Theatre doors open up 6 pm, Dinner is at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm.  Shows are at 7:30 pm on the 19th, 20th, and 2 pm on the 21st.  February 26th and 27th shows are at 7:30 pm and February 28 show is at 2 pm.

March 27th – Harvesting Capabilities Chicken Noodle Carry Out from 1 pm to 5 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Pick up located in alley in back of school.  Adults are $6.00 in advance, $7.00 at the door.  Children 5 years to 12 years are $2.50 in advance, $3.00 at the door.  Children 4 years and under are free.  Menu includes: chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, bread, peach cobbler or applesauce on request for diabetics and cookies for the kids.

April 21st – Maxine presents “Old Bags” Administrative Professional Day hosted by the Miami County Chamber of Commerce at the Firehouse Ministries from 11:30 am to 1 pm.  Catered by the Siding restaurant.  Gift bags filled with goodies along with Old Bags Silent Auction with all the proceeds going to the Chamber sponsored, Miami County Community Foundation scholarship fund.

 

April 22nd – 25th – “Play it again, Sam” Ole Olsen play at the Depot.  April 22nd will be Dinner Theatre, doors open at 6 pm; Dinner is at 6:30 pm, show start at 7:30 pm.  Shows are at 7:30 pm on April 23rd, 24th, and 2 pm on the April 25th.

April 24th – Beautification Day starting at 1 pm meeting at the Depot.  Sponsored by Peru Utilities and clean up will be up and down the riverbank of the Wabash.  Bring a pair of gloves and suggest wearing long pants and long sleeves.  If you would like to volunteer for this, please call 765-473-7651.

 

April 24th – West City Park will be celebrating the opening of season!  10 am parade starts and at 12 noon carnival rides, food and games begin.  Come out and see the new concession stand and handicap accessible restrooms

May 15th – Free Backyard Conservation Workshop featuring rain gardens composting, invasive species and rain barrels from 9 am to 11:30 am at the Peru Wastewater Treatment Plant at 221 West Riverside Drive in Peru.  Come rain or shine.

June 5th – The 10th Annual Circus City Metric Century Bicycle Ride at the Peru National Guard Armory, 77 Germann Street in Peru.  Check in begins at 7:30 am and riders can start any time between 8 am and 9 am.  Ride distances are 17, 32, 50 and 65 miles.  The routes all include the paved section of the Nickel Plate Trail from Peru to Cassville.  The longer routes will pass by Mississinewa Reservoir and Seven Pillars.  There will be SAG stops with food and drink provided.  Photos will be take along the trail that can be purchased as a keepsake.  Register on at active.com or download a form at www.circuscitycyclists.org.  Bike helmets are required.  The fee is $20 for individuals and $40 for a family.  For more information, contact Steve Wagner at 765-472-1289 or metriccentury@circuscitycyclists.org

November 17th – Downtown Christmas Open House in downtown Peru.  Prizes given to winners.  There will be music up and down the streets with specials in the stores and refreshments!  Music, fun, food and prizes.  Event starts off with a parade at the Depot starting at 6 pm with Santa on his sleigh and he will be at the Santa House by 6:30 pm for picture taking and the shops will be open for “stamping”.  There will also be a Christmas Tree and Wreath Auction located at the museum.

 

December 5th – Main Street Methodist Church will have “Christmas on Main Street”.  This will be a free Christmas program and a free will donation supper.

 

December 11th – Eastern Woodland Woodcarvers Club Christmas Show.  Carry-in and live auction.

 

December 11th – 12th – Eastern Woodland Carvers Club Christmas Show.  Hours are 10 am to 5 pm in Converse.  Live auction at 7 pm both days.
