PERU POLICE DEPARTMENT

On behalf of the men and women of the Peru Police Department, I would like to welcome you to our webpage.

The Peru Police Department consists of twenty-eight sworn officers and three civilian employees.

The majority of our officers are assigned to the Patrol Division where they are expected to be the first responders to nearly every call for service that is received by the Department. The Patrol Division also enforces traffic and criminal laws, investigates traffic crashes, and provides public services to the citizens of Peru.

There are Peru Police Department officers assigned to specialize in Criminal Investigations and Narcotics Investigations. The Department has a K-9 officer, a police motorcycle officer, and a Special Operations Team. The Department has several Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certified instructors to provide fellow officers with essential training needs.

The mission of the Peru Police Department is to protect the rights of all persons within its jurisdiction to be free from criminal victimization, to be secure in their possessions and to live in peace. Consistent with the values of a free society, it is the primary objective of the Peru Police Department to approach, as closely as possible, the ideal of a community free from crime and disorder.

Crime is the symptom of ills within society. Since crime is a social phenomenon, crime prevention must be the concern of every person living in society. The Peru Police Department encourages public support for mutual crime prevention efforts. Please use this site to learn more about the Peru Police Department and to contact us with any concerns.
