Bill McQueen is the Street Department Supervisor. He has worked for the City of Peru for 36 years. The Street Department consists of 22 employees.
The Street Department maintains the City's streets and alleys. The department's specific functions include street resurfacing, repair and construction, snow removal, street sweeping, leaf collection and removal of trees in the tree lawn.
Street Department Pick-up Guidelines
Garbage Building Materials Brush and Limbs
Garbage containers are to be no larger than 33 gallons and weigh no more than 50 lbs. They must be placed within 5ft. of alley or in the tree lawn for setouts.
The Street Department does not pick up building materials except by truck rental. Truck rental fee is $150.00 per load, allowing 3 calendar days to load debris. Call 472-2501 to schedule a truck rental.
Brush needs to be cut into 4ft. lengths and weigh less than 50 lbs. We do not haul for contractors or contracted work - it must be cut by homeowners.

Tree Cutting ~ Tree Trimming
REMOVAL OF TREES The City has the responsibility of cutting down/removal of dead or dangerous trees that are within the city's tree lawn. If you have a request for said service, please contact the Street Department at 765-472-2501. The request would be taken before the Board of Works and voted upon. Upon approval of the Board of Works and completion of a Hold Harmless form, the service would be scheduled and performed. TREE AND SHRUB TRIMMING would be completed by the Traffic Department. This is only if the shrubs and trees are obstructing streets, alleys, or pedestrian travel. Should you require this service, please contact the Traffic Department at 765-473-2154. |
