2020 Fireworks

From the Desk of Mayor Hewitt

Barring any different announcement from Governor Eric Holcomb, fireworks are scheduled for Saturday, July 4th in Maconaquah Park at dusk. Social distancing will be required, remember the 6-foot rule. Face masks are requested, and hand sanitizer should be brought with you if you plan on attending. People at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19, including those 65 and above and those who are sick or have underlying medical issues or have a temperature, are urged to stay home.

The Peru Police Department along with Miami County Emergency Management Service will be providing security for this event.

This year will be different than the years past. For the first time people who prefer to stay home can view the fireworks live on tv or from the computer by tuning your tv to the Peru local cable channel or live stream on your computer from the City of Peru Mayor's Office facebook page.

This is another form of social distancing while still being able to attend the fireworks from the comfort of your own home.

This is made possible by Peru Community School corporation and the Peru City Cable Committee, Dave Moon will be doing the filming and live streaming so everyone can watch the fireworks. They all deserve a big thank you.

I wish everyone a Happy 4th of July and please be safe and enjoy your time with your loved ones.

Mayor
